  • Arch designs demanded by the time in building sciences and architecture

The article presents a review of recent projects of arch designs, work on their research. Arch structures are widely used in construction since ancient times. The Romans were the first to use the arch of considerable size, and some of them survived until our days. One of the examples of arch structures in Roman architecture is the Roman aqueduct of Pont du Gard. Accident arched constructions mostly occur due to buckling of the entire structure. Risk of accident from loss of stability is especially great because buckling can occur suddenly. The loss of stability as possible out of plane and in plane. Flat design farm, arches, frame resistance to bending in the plane of the structures than from the plane. Cases of accidents of industrial and civil constructions, which occurred from buckling lateral torsional buckling is little known. Buckling lateral torsional buckling of structures, working in transverse bending, is given little attention, as it is believed that if and has in some cases place, it would not lead to accident due to their shared relationship of beams with other designs.

  • Investigation of stress-strain state of reinforced concrete arch with a view of viscoelasticity on the basis of different theories of creep

We investigated the creep of concrete arches based on the following theories: the theory of linear creep by Harutyunyan-Maslov, kinetic theory, the theory of flow, theory of aging, and nonlinear theory of Y. Gurieva. We considered viscoelastic model of the concrete, ie total strain was represented as the sum of elastic strain and creep strain. Solution of the problem was carried out by finite element method. We considered the arch rigidly clamped at the ends and loaded with a uniformly distributed load. Graphs of growth of deflection and stress distribution in the reinforcement and concrete are represented. We obtained the substantial redistribution of stress between the reinforcement and the concrete during creep: in reinforcement stresses increased and in concrete stresses decreased. The strongest redistribution occurs on the theory Y. Gureva.
