  • The analysis of unorganized dust emissions in the atmosphere of the city from the electrosteel-smelting shop

    In article metallurgical production as the metallurgy is one of the main sources of technogenic environmental pollution and a working zone is considered. Authors have described the main sources of formation of fine dust by results of which the analysis of fractional structure of the dust particles which are allocated during the operation of the arc melting furnace has been carried out. The submitted data demonstrate that the dust coming to rooms of the shop has the sizes from 3 to 18 microns. The share of mass of particles with sizes less than 10 microns in air of the electrosteel-smelting shop makes from 15%.

  • Effective use of natural potential by woodworking enterprises of the construction industry

    The imbalance in the development of the forestry, with respect to the valuable and non-standard woods used by the construction enterprises, entails an ecological catastrophe in the regions. For the wide use of hardwood in the production of building materials and products, a technology has been developed to direct the development of operational properties. Modification of the structure of the wood due to volumetric impregnation of capillaries helps to reduce water absorption, increase fire resistance and biostability of wood, and also contributes to meeting the growing needs of producers of wood-based building materials in a cheap local raw material quickly renewable resource base

  • Reducing the smoke level of evacuation routes in case of fire in multi-storey public buildings by using ultrasonic coagulation

    The causes of death of people during a fire, as well as the effect of toxic combustion products on the human body are analyzed. It was found out that the main problem of unhindered evacuation of people from the building is blocking the evacuation routes by smoke. Methods of fighting smoke in a fire are considered and their advantages and disadvantages are determined. One of the ways to solve this problem is ultrasonic coagulation of aerosols with subsequent precipitation. Effective coagulation of smoke in a fire can be provided by a piezoelectric ultrasonic oscillatory system.

  • The choice of the method of demercurization for the subsequent secondary use of mercury-containing waste

    The article deals with topical issues of mercury waste disposal. The analysis of the possibility of secondary use of demercurized cullet under the condition of maximum extraction of mercury concentrate. On the basis of physical and chemical properties of mercury, a comparison of two methods of demercurization, during which it was found that the technology of thermal demercurization will reduce the percentage of remaining mercury in cullet.

  • Technology of cleaning of the river Temernik

    The use of higher aquatic plants (VVR) for water purification from various pollutants is an efficient system in wastewater technologies. For the development of bottom sediments of the river Temernik in Rostov-on-don it is proposed to use remotely operated underwater suction dredger, eliminates the secondary pollution of water. The project of the new landfill for disposal of bottom sediments is a waterproofing geomembrane Blackline TFS on the basis of high-pressure polyethylene and low-density LDPE. In the ""Target environmental program of improvement of the water basin of the river Temernik"", envisages clearing the riverbed with a length of 2 km, construction of disposal site sediments (PSDO), the establishment of biomodule with water hyacinth. During wastewater treatment water hyacinth decomposes and oxidizes industrial and organic sewage into simple elements and absorbs them as nutrition.Long massive root of water hyacinth absorbs heavy metals, oil products, phenols, synthetic surface-active substances (surfactants) and other substances.

  • Application of a new scientific approach to the assessing of grain dust properties

    The authors propose to choose the system of air purification from grain dust, which has the maximum ecological efficiency and energy efficiency, based on the study of the properties of this pollutant. Investigation of the grain dust parameters of the properties of the dispersed phase and dispersion medium, as well as energy parameters will affect the stability of the aerosol, i.e. its ability to resist external influences. Changing the stability of the grain dust aerosol and, ultimately, its destruction due to the separation of the dispersed phase and the dispersion medium, is the purpose of the development of air purification system.

  • Ecological assessment of atmospheric air condition near the territory of Novocherkassk solid waste landfill

    the paper presents characteristics of the solid waste landfill in the town of Novocherkassk, and the dynamics of pollutants’emissions from the landfill site for the period between 2015-2017 as well. The characteristic of the atmospheric air on the border with the nearby residential development and Novocherkassk landfill on the basis of the calculated air pollution index (API) and the complex index of atmospheric airpollution.

  • Removal of heavy metals from industrial wastewater through the application of sorbent from the shell of the nut anacardium

    The article suggests the use of agricultural wastes of the shell of the anacard nut, cultivated in the Republic of Cote d'Ivoire, as a sorption material. This carbon sorbent (0.5 g / l) was used to remove heavy metals, namely iron (Fe), C = 1.05 mg / l, aluminum (Al), C = 0.10 mg / l) from production waste water of the machine-building plant of LLC Rostselmash (Rostov-on-Don). According to the experimental data, the efficiency of metal removal depends on the sorption time and amounts to: for iron - from 28.6 to 97.1%, for aluminum - from 10 to 90% (Table 2). The concentration of metals in treated wastewater (iron C = 0.03 mg / l and aluminum C = 0.01 mg / l) corresponds to the norms of MPC (iron C = 0.1 mg / l, and aluminum C = 0.04 mg / l), which makes it possible to discharge them into the city water drainage system. From the experimental data, it was concluded that this material can be used as a sorbent.

  • Pollution of territories bordering on mine waste and possible solutions to the problem

    The soils of the territories adjoining the waste pits of coal mines are investigated. In the soil, quantities of copper, zinc, nickel and lead were found, more than MPC. Excess of MPC for cadmium is not noted. The content of copper and nickel is 2-3 times higher than their permissible content in the soil, and this situation is observed throughout the study - up to 500 m. A slight excess of the maximum permissible concentration of zinc and lead was noted at a distance of 200-300 m from the waste. It is necessary to restore the territories after the removal of anthropogenic source - waste heaps.

    The article presents the results of studies conducted by the national agency of Afghanistan on ecology and environmental protection and Russian authors of studies on the assessment of air pollution in the city of Kabul.
