  • Methods of multirate signal processing in distributed sensor networks

A problem of signal estimation (or estimation of some parameters of the signal) based on measurement results obtained by means of distributed sensor network is considered. The system formed by spaced sensors called nodes (or motes) obtains information about a stochastic process. It is supposed that there is a single source of the information and the distortions are linear.
Every node gets incomplete and distorted knowledge about the observed process and operates on the low sampling rate. Combined processing of the information obtained from the different sensors makes possible to perform the integrated estimation which is usually much more accurate.
The application of the information performance criterion provides high robustness in the presence of the noise and the measurement uncertainty and, theoretically, gives the most complete information, while the measurements have severe constraints.
Due to the multirate signal processing it is possible to decrease requirements on sensor’s sampling frequencies, to reduce the channel loading and the current consumption of sensors. Furthermore, the computational load falls in real-time applications.

  • Nonlinear autoregressive neural network with exogenous inputs based solution for local minimum problem of agent tracking using quadrotor

This paper offers an improvement for machine vision based tracking algorithm using NARX neural network. This is achieved by predicting the next position of a mobile agent based on previous movement described by time-series functions. The algorithm remains passive and does not interfere with the quadrotr flight path until detection of multiple agent-candidates, when the tracking algorithm is not able to identify or locate the assigned agent. Meanwhile the NARX training set are updated in parallel with each successful tracking cycle. This process is done to eliminate the overfitting problem of BPTT training.

  • Spatial organization grouping signals in associative processes of artificial neural networks

The article discusses issues related to the development of the optimal structure of neural networks. One of the major problems in the synthesis neural conrollers is ensuring optimal number of neurons and connections between layers  in the network. Necessary to achieve a compromise between the representational network capabilities, and memory that will be required to store it. The article presents a number of heuristics, allowing to reach such a compromise by limiting the number of connections for each neuron.
This is done through the introduction of two characteristics for the neuron: the radius of the coverage and density of connections. Coverage radius determines the number of neurons that could potentially have a connection to this neuron, and the density of the compound gives the actual number of such compounds. Altogether, these characteristics determine the amount of synaptic connections, which can have a neuron. The article presents the heuristics that allow to define these characteristics depending on the network structure.

  • Adaptive control system for welding equipment

In modern industry, welding plays an important role for jointing materials and arc welding has been the dominant process for many years. In general, in order to produce a high-quality weld, the system should have two main functionalities. First, it should have the capacity of directing the welding torch based on the detection of the joint location and geometry, namely “seam tracking”. Second, the system should be able to adjust the welding parameters, namely “adaptive control of the welding condition". Both functionalities heavily rely on the sensor systems. The analysis of welding technological processes, adaptive control and intelligent  systems proved the  opportunity of utilization artificial neural networks in the procedure of  weld seam tracking and weld head movement control. Welding process engineering and adaptive correction with artificial neural networks  are considered in the paper both with the computer vision system based on video monitoring and laser profilоmetry.  The paper is focused on the development of a proper sensor system to facilitate the arc welding automation and neural network-based control to provide precise seam tracking and high-quality joints.

  • Method of eliminate empty traffic in TDM technology

Time Division Multiplexing is the one of the main information transmission technology. Main problem of this method is the large amount of empty of traffic. This number can reach about 97%. In article presents a method for reducing amount of empty traffic by using the new system pointers, that encode information about the frame . Pointer consists of three components : a pointer to a smaller source (points to the source that gave less information ), a pointer to a smaller amount of information and a pointer to the source memory block (points to the memory block , where the frame was formed ). This pointer is generated when creating a frame and is written in the first data slot. After transmitting a frame pointer is decoded, and based on this information, the distribution of data occurs on the output signals. The developed method has several advantages over similar methods of data transmission, does not depend of the speed of data sources, and have minimum depends on amount of input signals. This technology allows to fill information cells only useful information, and improve the efficiency of code up 96.6 %.

  • Model of dynamic management of a laser beam and a blood-groove on the basis of a biological feed-back

The method of laser therapy is based on synchronization of phases of inflow (anacrotism) and outflow of blood (catacrotism) in the field of the pathological center with phases of a being narrowed and extending laser spot on a projection of this pathological center. It is supposed that being narrowed on a projection of the pathological center the spot of laser light stimulates blood inflow to the spot center, and the extending spot of a laser beam – activates blood outflow in the direction from the spot center to its periphery. The developed technique of the automated correction of hemodynamic frustration consists in pilot signal formation (in charge of the power and laser positioning) for the laser machine on the basis of a difference between a reference rheogram and a rheogram of the patient (a body site) in real time. The offered technique has to allow to use more efficiently methods of laser therapy at treatment of violations of a blood-groove. The technique is calculated on the basis of numerical experiment by means of methods of mathematical model operation. In the real experiment the question of synchronization of the reference and measured signal is considered solved though this task represents a subject of separate researches. The received pilot signal can be in real time transformed to the current signal operating positioning and laser power. The method gives the chance of an operating control of a condition of the patient and blood-groove diagnostics to, in time and after a session of laser therapy. • Method of flexible time/frequency signal localization subsystem formation in adaptive filtering problems

The new way of the organization of multistage time-frequency signal localization subsystems is considered. The investigations are constrained by finite impulse response class of digital circuits.
The example illustrated the principle of agreement between pyramidal structure, formed of multistage including of any simple analysis/synthesis subsystem, and channel characteristics. This principle makes possible more precise localization of the input signal in separate frequency bands. The adaptive structure formation of the time/frequency transformation allows increasing of parameters characterizing the effectiveness of the subband adaptive filters (SAF).
Application of the method of flexible time/frequency localization structure formation in the adaptive filtering problems allows significantly decreasing of processor loading by real-time realization of SAF.
The other important advantage of the flexible SAF formation based on the least-mean-square algorithm lies in reducing of the adaptation period for the adaptive system.

  • Position predication of a dynamic agent tracked by quadrotor using neural networks

Specialized robots are occupying a vast share of researches worldwide. In terms of aerial specialized robots, autonomy is the one of the major subjects that are being studied. As  known, flight autonomy is consisting of three parts: Mission planning, trajectory generation and path tracking. While it exists variety of local and global generation algorithm, UAV path planning is always associated with machine vision. This intellectual approach is solid because it can give a dual supervision link to the situation being surveyed. The operator has always the authority to step in and stop any unwanted action. The machine vision based algorithm has a huge disadvantage due to homogeneity and identity factors. This is because from distance object tend to look the same geometrically as well as color wise. In this paper we offer a solution to tackle the homogeneity problem between tracked agents which can cause local minimum problems. The UAV will forecast the next position of the tracked agent using Artificial Neural Networks. Position estimation is based on registered previous coefficient.
