  • Consensus Protocol in Asynchronous Networks with Failures

Consensus problem involves a system of processes, some of which may be faulty. A fundamental problem of fault-tolerant distributed computing is for the reliable processes to reach a agreement on a same decision. One approach to achieving such agreement is for processes to vote and agree on the majority value. In the absence of faults, this works fine, but the vote even one faulty process can swing the outcome. In this paper we present some result of analysis of a mixed-failure model, where t processes may fail, b out of which is the Byzantine failures and remaining c is crash processes. In a asynchronous model of computation for several distributed problems it turns out that a collection of N processes can tolerate c crash failures if 2c < N, while robustness against b Byzantine failures requires 3b < N. Our algorithm rely on a weak definition of the Byzantine failures which disallows them act as a dead or a crash processes and can tolerate the 2(N – 2c)/3 failures.

One of the problems when storing large amounts of data is a rational choice of media. In this paper we evaluated the possibility of using magnetic tape, CD, DVD, Blu-ray discs, hard disk drives, drives to flash memory (SSD) for storage of large volumes of data with respect to reliability, performance,.cost and high-speed storage. The analysis showed that solid state drives can be used in case of the need for ultra-fast access to live data. The hard disk drive can be used as primary storage devices for storing operational data. DVD and Blu-ray library can be used for archival storage medium volumes (tens of terabytes). Tape libraries can be used to store very large volumes of data (terabytes or more). The lowest cost of storing 1 GB of data is $ 0.03 when you use tape libraries. • Nested metagraphs as models of complex objects

"The concept of the nested metagraph as the model of a complex object with different levels of generalization is introduced. It is shown that the nested metagraphs reflect the general system concept for description of complex objects with synergistic effect. This approach enables moving from the set-theoretic description of complex objects to their algebraic-theoretic description, thus increasing the model adequacy to real-life objects. Most of web pages of the Web are inaccessible for the blind users. And the main reason is a lack of the semantics at the source code (technical) level of web pages and absence of the navigational components. In this work we propose a new web page representation---multiaxial navigation model---representing web documents in the form convinient for the blind users. Moreover, we present methodology for the navigation on the model proposed, that ensure an efficiency of user mobility. Automatic transformation of a web page into the multiaxial navigation model and navigation means are realized in the Blindzilla prototype.
